Reduced Reference and No Reference Television (RRNR-TV)
Validation Test Goals
RRNR-TV examined Reduced Reference (RR) and No References (NR) objective video quality models that predict the quality of standard definition television (625-line and 525-line). Models were submitted in 2008 and VQEG's final report was approved June 22, 2009. All NR models were withdrawn. The ITU decided that the accuracy of some RR models was sufficient to justify standardization. The PSNR implementation that was used as a minimal performance metric was also standardized.
